Mission Emphasis for January & February

Outreach for January/February.
In coordination with Church Women United in Moore County, we are supporting the
Blanket & Tools offerings of Church World Service, the ecumenical organization known for rapid response to disaster relief. The famed “grey blanket” for a modest $5 can be a tent, a poncho, a bed, a child carrier - the warmth of love and caring to those in desperate need. Tools and education are tangible ways to help people help themselves and improve the quality of their lives.

March emphasis is One Great Hour of Sharing, an ecumenical effort since 1949, involving 9 denominations providing clean water and food, education and health care, small business micro-credit, emergency relief, advocacy and resettlement for refugees and displaced persons, domestic and international ministries for disaster preparedness and response. How we can show love!!

Continuing Missions

The Sandhills/Moore County Coalition for Human Care continues as a special mission project at our church. This local mission of concerned churches does enormous good, and unfortunately, with plant clothing, the requests have grown.

Throughout the year we collect food - stew, mashed potatoes and fruit juices to help stock the pantry.  This month we seek to collect money to  help needy families with Rent, Medical bills, and unexpected emergencies. The system tracts frequency of requests and legitimacy of needs so that assistance can we appropriately shared.  The Coalition is also in the process of drawing up plans to enlarge their facilities for servicing the community, which will require funds to complete the project.

Household goods and clothing are collected at the Pennsylvania Avenue buildings and distributed, as well as fine outfits sold to augment things like diapers and formula for babies.
